Yeah, four non-displaced hairline fractures...not sure what to think here, but for a player who makes a living sliding into bases, this isn't good news. Rotoworld is saying he won't be back until at least some time in May.
Anyone know anything about non-displaced hairline fractures?
"It's a great question. It really is strictly symptom-based," Gill said. "These injuries, they're very variable as far as how long symptoms last. As long as he can swing, hit, run, catch, do anything that he needs to without feeling it in any way, he'll be cleared to play. Sometimes that can be a week. Sometimes that can be a couple of weeks. It really depends on how fast he progresses. From a medical standpoint, he will be safe to play as soon as his symptoms resolve."
Yahoo actually says he's traveling with the team to Toronto so maybe he'll return sooner rather than later.
Mon, Apr 26 Ellsbury (ribs) accompanied the team on their trip to Toronto, but is dour on the possibility of a return any time soon, noting that he still cannot duplicate his swing, according to the Boston Globe. Recommendation: With MIke Cameron's return looking to come earlier than expected, Ellsbury has a little more license to let his injury fully heal. (Rotowire.com)
Yeah, saw that right after I posted my last message. Not sure what to make of it. First, he's not going, now he is. I just hope this doesn't turn into one of those situations where he comes back too soon, plays poorly because he's not ready or worse, reinjures the ribs and is now out for an extended period of time.
Jacoby Ellsbury (ribs) participated in live batting practice before Tuesday's game against the Angels. It marks a significant step in his rehab from four fractured ribs. Provided he continues to do baseball activities without pain, he could soon head out on a minor league rehab assignment, though the Red Sox have yet to lay out any sort of timeline for his return.
Hopefully we will see him back soon, although Gardner is doing a great job on my team of producing the same stats .
