Doesn't look overly serious, but something to watch...
Jacoby Ellsbury left Sunday's game in the ninth inning with an apparent rib-cage injury.
Ellsbury and Adrian Beltre collided on a flyball down the left-field line. Ellsbury, who was attempting a sliding catch, took Beltre's knee to his left rib-cage and was down for a few minutes before walking off under his own power. Hopefully, it's a day-to-day injury. Jeremy Hermida would fill in for him in left field
Would this make Hermida a sexy pickup? He'd be hitting at the back of the lineup I assume, but he's been hitting well so far.
She said always remember never to trust me She said that the first night that she met me She said "there's gonna be a time when I'm gonna have to go with whoever's gonna get me the highest."
Follow-up X-rays on Jacoby Ellsbury's ribs were negative, and he's still expected to avoid the disabled list. With Mike Cameron potentially returning Saturday, the Red Sox can afford to wait a few more days for Ellsbury to make it back. They couldn't play down two outfielders for much longer.
Sox are talking midweek return for him now. Guess I have to leave him in my weekly without many better options, although losing him and Rollins all of last week murdered me..
According to ESPN Boston, Ellsbury has made only "minimal" progress in his recovery from bruised left ribs and does not appear close to coming back. Spin: This report is more pessimistic than others, as Comcast SportsNet New England is reporting that Ellsbury is planning "an aggressive day" of rehab Tuesday with an eye toward returning Wednesday. It looks like Ellsbury will try to take more aggressive swings to test the pain, but Wednesday is far from a sure thing. As a matter of fact, the Red Sox are discussing DL options with both Ellsbury and Mike Cameron (abdomen) hurting.
Yeah, saw something similar on Rotoworld. Cameron went on the DL today. Really wish they would just go ahead and DL him already instead of rushing him back.
Ellsbury (ribs) was placed on the 15-day DL prior to Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Recommendation: Darnell McDonald has been called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to replace him on the roster, but Ellsbury is eligible to return against the Blue Jays next week if he's healthy enough to do so. (Rotowire.com)
So today it was reveleaed that Ellsbury has 4 cracked ribs with no timetable for return. So I'm now stuck with Brian Roberts and Ellsbury out indefinitely, and J.A. Happ on the DL today with forearm tightness. At least Cliff Lee is coming back early.
