ISO and UZR are actually helpful in fantasy. ISO can show in a quick and dirty way someone's power trend, and UZR is helpful because it shows you if someone you haven't seen much could be in danger of losing playing time because of their glove.
WAR is interesting but not that helpful, and xFIP is complete FAIL.
Eh, UZR is better for evaluating how much a team's defense is going to help the pitcher than it is for predicting playing time. We've seen guys with mediocre gloves win awards and have praise heaped on them. See: Jeter, Adam Jones

Me too. Depending on the question. I also feel bad when I do post there, and I go back to their post, and it's something I don't have a solid opinion on, or my answer would be the same as another poster's.

in general I think WHIR actually means.. "Will somebody, anybody, I don't really care who, please respond to what I have done here and tell me that I am right about how I've drafted, the trade I made, the strategy I'm using, ect., ect., ect.. so that I can feel a little bit better about myself and what I've done."
that and also, "have I completely overthought this? can I get a few fresh sets of eyes to take a look here and tell me if I've looked past some common sense issue here?"
I do all of this, I know it... sometimes you just need a bit of reassurance and it doesn't really matter who you get it from.
On a slightly related note to DTWK topics, a personal pet peeve is someone asking for help with a trade but not listing their roster or the number of teams in the league, whether it is a keeper/redraft/dynasty, keeper restrictions, etc. Those variables usually change my evaluations of trades considerably.
Sometimes it is easier to be impartial with someone else's team then your own. We are often blind to the shortfalls of our team or our favorite players. Thus, the WHIR.
