to me it seems like team A is getting completely gipped and royally hosed so might it be in the league's best interest of competitive fairness for me to veto this deal? any and all help would be appreciated guys thanks

to be lowe is basically inconsequential so the deal comes down to fielder for manny and johnson, manny is not even a top 30 OF anymore so the value from johnson who got bombed his first start against fielder, who's a first round pick is not even close, i dont know what to do yet but i am leaning towards vetoing it

Look, I think the Fielder/Lowe recipient is getting the better end of this deal, but it's not unreasonable. It's not your job as commish to ensure that every trade works out for both sides- you need to let managers make the deals they want.

It isn't your job to veto trades that "You Would Not Make Personally". Your job is to stop VERY UNEVEN trades. The trade seems pretty even to me. Fielder is better than Manny and Johson is better than Lowe. The best way to get people to drop from your league is to be "Veto Crazy".

First my usual disclaimer, I will veto trades even if there is no collusion. If it affects the integrity or the competiveness of the league I will veto it.

That being said this trade is not close to being veto-worthy. Its lopsided since Fielder is a first round pick, but Johnson is a legitimate top 10-15 pitcher and Manny is still top 25 OF. To me unless this is a very deep league, Lowe is just a throw away type with not much value.

In a twelve team league I have Manny worth $15, J. Johnson at $18 for a total of $33

On the other side I have Lowe at exactly $0 and Fielder at $33 for a total of....$33!

Seems like a perfect trade to me.

I wouldn't veto that. You have to allow bad trades unless you've got a previously agreed system in place. E.g., you have something akin to an NBA style trade rule that pegs value independently to some ranking system (the NBA uses salary). For example, you could use Yahoo's rank, and stipulate that the total difference in rank between players exchanged can't exceed 50. That's just off the top of my head, I have no idea if that would work and I wouldn't use anything like that in my league unless we had a run of one-sided trades.

Overall though, I'm very hesitant to hit the veto button. People have to be allowed to make bad decisions. Only in very lopsided or egregious cases should the veto be used. I wouldn't touch it in this case.
