Let Heyward go???

Postby jtd200 » Fri Apr 09, 2010 12:09 pm

I've been offered this trade in Mixed 5x5:

My Jason Heyward and Roy Oswalt

for

His Jacoby Elsbury and Derek Lowe

I'd probably drop Derek Lowe for a waiver pitcher pick up, like Kevin Slowey, so.... Should I let Heyward go?

Just on the face of it no I wouldn't. What does the rest of your roster look like? If you need speed you may have to.

I've got Hanley Ramirez and about 4 other guys (not counting Heyward) with 10-15 SB potential...

Let My Heyward Go ... haha, sounds like something from the 10 Commandments (my grandfather was a minister, what can i say).

anyway, I would say that getting Elsbury would make you a lock for sb if you have hanley and some other guys capable. It may be, then, that you spin Lowe and one of your somewhat speedy guys for a real power/rbi bat. Then you will have cashed in well for Heyward but also lock in SB in consolidated fashion while moving spare parts you don't need much more to get your Elsbury equivalent in the HR/RBI (like a Nelson Cruz or somehting... who has speed too now that I think about it).

I will say, though, that trading Lowe is about as hard as trading a piece of already-chewed Bubble Tape. So know that going in ... if you are happy with what Lowe gives you (and he's really not far off from Oswalt and healthier too) then I think it works nicely for you too.

help me out, please, with this trade that has keeper implications? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=407140

Ok. Maybe I'll wait to see if Heyward goes 0/4 again this afternoon before making my decision. =-p

Don't jump the gun if he goes 0 for 4 2 games in a row. But if you really want to do it I would get something better than Lowe in return.

Is this a keeper or a redraft?? If a keeper definately not then, if a redraft makes it easier.
