Trade Ubaldo Jiménez for Rafael Soriano

Postby ajacob24 » Fri Apr 09, 2010 11:21 am

I'm looking to make a trade to improve my closer situation.
My league is a 15 players ROTO league. Scoring includes R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

I have been offered Rafael Soriano straight up for Jimenez.

I'm not sure if this is the best move for my pitching staff. I might be able to work a multi player deal and acquire Cueto in the deal, but I'm not sure if I'd have anything to offer to the person who offered me the trade. I think he's more looking for a straight up deal.

i have to say no, dont do it. Jimenez is a lot more valuable than a closer who only helps in one category.
you do need help at closer, but not a one for one involving Soriano and Jimenez.
i might say giving up Jimenez is OK if your getting a top closer like Papelbon/Rivera who are likely for 40+ SV on top teams, but not Soriano. even then one of the top closers like Papelbon/Rivera arnt enough for one of the better startes in the game. Jimenez doesnt get the credit because he pitches at Coors, but he has a high GB rate so Coors doesnt really effect him.
a package could be better, but im not that high on Cueto.
there are always closers that lose their job during the season, so its not worth giving up a top player for that. plus saves is just one category compared to a starter that helps in the other 4.

Dont' do it. Jimenez is a legitimate ace and is clearly the best player in this deal. You should be able to get more than Soriano.
