10 team, H2H, Keeper league (keep 8). It's a 7x7 w/ the pitching cats being:
W, SV, K, K/9, ERA, WHIP, QS.
In the past, I've always targeted SP (carrying 1 extra offensive bat) and maybe 1 closer (last season I didn't carry a RP at all). This season, I'm thinking of stocking up on solid SP, while carrying mostly RP that will be solid in K/9, ERA, WHIP and maybe SV's.
Capps and Dotel are still in FA. Dotel would deliver in K/9, ERA and WHIP and SVs, while Capps doesn't K/9 a ton. Joba would be a great ERA,WHIP and K/9, but zero SV's.
Should I cut a SP and OF and pick up Dotel and Joba to booster my pitching, or should I stick w/ my strategy of just holding as many SP at possible?
I would cut Dice-K and A. Soriano.
My team: C: Montero 1B: Pujols 2B: Lopez 3B: A.Rod SS: Tulo OF: Cruz, J. Upton, J. Hewyard UTIL: Prince BN: C. Quentin, A. Soriano
SP: C. Hamels SP: Galladro RP: B. Wagner RP: Qualls P: J. Peavy P: Kershaw P: T. Hanson BN: F. Carmona, S. Marcum, D. Price, Dice-K (DL), Kazmir (DL) DL: Webb
I'd cut Dice-K for Dotel. You definitely have enough SPs and I think Dotel is going to suprise this year. You could definitely use the help in SVs. In a 10 team league I wouldn't be worried about Dice-K being picked up, especially with talk of a 6 man pitching rotation.
thanks for the suggestions. I went ahead and cut dice-k for Dotel. I haven't cut Carmona yet. His BB was awful yesterday, but he did only allow one hit. He'll hurt me in a k/9 stance, but he's solid in QS.
Is there any other high k/9 RP I should look at, or any other closer that is currently on the DL. For instance, K. Wood is available, but I'm not sure he'll still be the closer when he comes back (it might get passed to Perez).
And is Soriano worth holding onto? He's probably going to only log in 130 or so games, w/ a .270 avg, 20-28HR and 10 SB. IDK. I'm just thinking that it's more useful to get 3 appearances from Joba in a week, then have a guy like Soriano play like 10 games for me.
