It's early, but he's looking pretty good and he had a good 2nd half last season. What's a realistic projection for him this year? I know the batting average will be there, but any chance he hits 20 hrs? Could you see him being more valuable than someone like Ibanez?

He had a 1.81 GB/FB ratio and a 8.0% HR/FB last year, both career worsts. If he can rebound back to something like 1.25/10 then he could push 20 HR and be a serviceable OF4 (or even a back-end OF3). But he's 36 and his ISO over the last three years has gone down from .232 to .172 to a measly .118. I have him in two leagues as a back-end OF4 and I don't expect him to put up anything significantly better than Placido "Empty AVG" Polanco.

I also own him, but its as my OF4-OF5 in a 14 teamer. Maggs still should be able to produce at a decent clip for the position I need him for, but I think 20 HR is a bit of a stretch and 20+ is pushing the envelope off the table IMO. He should carry a solid average like usual and will have a shot to drive in some runs, but the power is dwindling and to expect anything out of his past I think is expecting too much.
Also, in reguards to the previous poster, I'd actually start Polanco (if given the choice between Placido and Maggs for one UTIL slot) over Maggs 9 times outta 10.

Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...

His head wasn't in the game for most of the season last year due to his wife's cancer. That will take a toll on anyone, and was likely why we saw career lows across the board. After the disease was overcome (thankfully) in August, he started hitting like himself again. I think he can be a serviceable OF3/OF4 depending on the league this year.

I think he'll rebound this year. Like others have said, he's a fine 3rd or 4th outfield and he has looked good so far with multiple hits in each game including a long HR today.
