Trade Jose Reyes?....WHIR

Postby mktgteach » Thu Apr 08, 2010 11:54 am

Hi,

I am in a 16 team Dynasty League. Which side of this trade do you like better?

Side A:

Rick Porcello/Jose Reyes

Side B:

Tommy Hanson/Starlin Castro

I currently have Side A, but am considering making the trade for Side B. I have current shortstop depth (Bartlett/A. Cabrera) and could wait for Castro. A couple of people I have spoken to have told me that they would trade for Side B in a heartbeat. Do you agree?

I would. I think Tommy Hanson is going to have a huge year this year. There are some question marks about whether Reyes can return to form. Take the trade.

Yeah, I would love to have Hanson in a dynasty league, especially if it entails moving some risk in Reyes. If you have even a decent backup option at Short I would do the deal.

I guess my question would be, what about Porcello's value? Is Hanson so far above him that it warrants losing Porcello and Reyes for essentially only Hanson (for this year)?

I think Porcello will be a fine pitcher no doubt about that, but Hanson is head and shoulders above him as far as value right now, and projected down the road. If Jurrjens struggles this year Hanson is the ace. And there are so many questions about Reyes and what of anything he will be able to do this year, that i would pull the trigger on the deal. And as you said, you have plenty of depth at SS so it's worth the wait!

I may be in the minority here, but I wouldnt trade reyes for hanson unless I was really desperate for pitching. Why dont you do a wait and see on reyes...If he returns to form as I believe he will, you can get a much better starter if you want to.

I too am thinking that Reyes is going to be just fine and come back and be pretty close to what he was. This is why I am so hesitant.

Ugh -- tricky one.

Its all on reyes. If he can come back and be even an above avg. SS, the other guy wins the deal, especially with 16 teams, where SS's must be in short supply.

On the other hand, obviously if reyes sucks or stays hurt, its an easy accept.

I would not make this trade. Granted I am a Mets fan, but Reyes has proven that he can produce at a top 10 level when healthy, you are not getting enough IMO.
