ii know he did it against the weak m's lineup but still 10 k's in his first career start is nothing to sneeze at, is he worth a pickup and what are his projections this season?

huh? It's not his first career start, it was his 47th. He's a nice player but not as much in fantasy. He tops out at 90MPH. His out pitch is a nasty changeup that was in the low to mid 70s last night. He is predominantly a 2 pitch pitcher. He has never shown an ability to strike people out at the ML level but if he continue to induce misses, he'll be a solid option, especially off the waiver wire. But his HR rate was unsustainable last year so if that regresses to the mean, he'll be league average again

Striking out 10 was impressive, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. Braden can be very good at times but has never shown consistency. If you have some crap on your bench or a hopeful sleeper like Bud Norris or someone, than by all means pick him up. Every good player has to break out at some point right? Most likely this was a fluke though, I wouldn't get too excited.
