Id go with the HRs, and how the hitters are doing.

-If the other team has lots of SB potential (SB guys and lots of 15-20SB guys), go for the HRs
-If theres an injury, or you know a guy isnt playing, pop in the SB guy
-If by 3-4 days you think youll win certain catagories, go for SB
-If a guy is slumping you can go for the SBs
-If you think you can compete in the other categories with 1 less power guy, pick the slumping, or weakest power guy, and put in your SB.
-Match ups. Who are the power guys facing? Top SP vs average power guy usually = SP wins
I love mock drafts.

I live in Serbia, I am 45 and am physics teacher at university :-) . Not a prototypical fantasy player, but I like sports and stats.

Rajai Davis is already taken in my league, and in the moment I understand the point that SB is important in FB, I was able to get Pierre. The guy seems fine up to now, as far as SB is concerned.

Here is my team:
INF: Doumit(C),K.Morales(1B),M.Prado(1B,2B,3B),E.Longoria(3B),M.Scutaro(SS)
OF: J.Bay,T.Hunter
Util:R.Zimmerman(3B),J.Uribe(2B,3B,SS)
BN-batters:J.Bruce(OF),J.Kubel(OF),J.D.Drew(OF),D.Young(OF),J.Pierre(OF),
DL-batter:I.Kinsel(2B)
SP:D.Haren,C.Billingsley
RP:M.Gonzalez,O.Dotel
P:J.Jurrjens,K.Correia,A.Pettite,J.Vazquez
BN-pitchers:J.Sanchez

After Kinsel went to DL I spent my waiver priority on Prado, and I think I did a good research work through statistics to find the guy (never heard of him before O:-)) . But on the basis of the same research I let Vernon Wells go. Whatever.

I have problem though with OFs (prized guys Bruce and Kubel are combined 1/28 so far).I am considering to take Francoer for one of them, but I don't know if it is normal for players to have weeks off like they do.

The other problem are my RP. M.Gonzalez is off to a very bad start, and it seems that there is no enough closers in this league. I will practice patience with Gonzalez, but if I have to change him, I have free agents Franklin Morales and Jim Johnson, and also guys like Ian Kennedy, Sean Marshall, Brain Talle and Brandon Morrow eligible.

I will appreciate any advices.

Thank you for your advice, and I admit that FB, with games every day, and with diffrenet scoring system, is more fun then FF.

I have Prado as well and had never heard of him but drafted him based on his #s and he's doing so much better than Jose Lopez (2B) (who was supposed to be better but is cold right now). I also have Haren as well, hoping he does well at Pittsburgh but at the same time Pittsburgh is my favorite team so I win either way. Are you doing a head to head scoring system? for example, I'm doing a yahoo league with 8 scoring categories. I get a point for every category I win against one opponent for the week, then the standings lists wins-losses-ties based on categories, not the overall winner (which I didn't know till just recently) so If I won 8 out of 12 categories my record is 8-4-0 not 1-0-0. The only advice I can give you is just to keep up the research and try to keep a well-balanced team. There are good fantasy sites out there that tell you "sleepers", hot/cold players, favorable matchups, etc. if you have the time. I would lean on the side of giving players off to a bad start another week or two to start up.... I have Bourn and Pence (both Houston OF's) and they're doing terrible despite their high rankings.

I play Yahoo public 5x5 H2H league with 12 teams. I still don't know how does match scoring looks like (1-0-0 or 8-2-0 system), I will know it soon.

Thanks for the advice. From my FF experience I know that some players need time to start playing in full stregnth, but on te other hand, I remember many examples when giving up on stumbling ex-aces for strongly performing no-namers won championships (like Culpepper for then-unknown Willie Parker some years ago).

Nevertheless, I will wait a bit with Kubel and Bruce. I think I can do it for now without bad consequences.
