Don't look now, but Young had himself a pretty good month of May and has been playing everyday off lately. He hit in the 5th spot today and hit a 2-run bomb.

In my 14-team keeper I actually have been starting everyday and he's shown me no reason to do otherwise.

Walk and K rates have stayed relatively level also. I believe in Delmon.

He's on pace to drive in 111 runs and is only three behind Morneau for the team lead. His periphs have improved. I believe in Delmon.

Edit: His UZR is far better than his LF career so far also.

Gotta love that his HR/FB rate is almost identical to last season and is just a smidge better than league average. No reason to believe his power is lucky. Really his biggest difference is in his batted ball data, LD's up a smidge, and FB's up about 3% from last year. Turn a few more worm burners into LD's and FB's and Delmon might really put together a stellar season .

The hype for him was so huge when he was in the minors. Nice to see he is fulfilling some promise.

Er, don't forget the fact that he cut his K rate in half and doubled his BB rate over last year. His BABIP right now is .308, compared to .338 in each of the last 3 years.

1 BB in June. From what I've seen when he's struggling at the plate he'll take walks and when he's swinging well he just goes up there to hit the ball. For the last two years I've thought that he just needs to go up to the looking for his pitch and swinging. And he should just forget about working the count because it's just not something he does well. Right now I'm just happy that he's hitting and not an abomination in the field (average actually).

I don't expect the BB rate improvement to last (for reasons stated above) but I'm hopeful that he can continue making contact and he appears to be getting more flyballs and pulling the ball more (helping his HR totals). His power should never have been questioned by anyone. Ever. But he wasn't able to hit many HR's because of too many GB's and hitting the ball to center (fences are 400 ft there as opposed to 340 down the line).
