My keeper league has an 8 team minor league bench, You get to keep these players in your minors for free until the season after they lose their rookie eligibility. Then they cost a 27th round pick (so I had Jay Bruce in my minor leagues for 2 years, and this year had to use a 27th round pick to keep him). Then you can keep the player for 3 more seasons with the cost going up 3 rounds each year (so it's the 18th round in the final year)
So basically, minor league keepers are very valuable.
We have our supplemental draft coming up in a week and there are a few ways I go at it (I have the second pick)
Here are the best players available based on their BA ranking (in order):
Tyler Matzek 23
Jacob Turner 26
Brett Wallace 27
Josh Bell 37
Mike Montgomery 39
Aaron Crow 40
Tanner Scheppers 42
Nick Hagadone 44
Casey Crosby 47
Chris Withrow 48
Zack Wheeler 49
Shelby Miller 50
Additionally, about half of the back end of 50-100 are available, but since I have the second pick, and the rest of my 7 are awesome, it won't be an upgrade.
Right now, I'm thinking Turner or Matzek. Wallace may be good but 1b is always so deep. But I welcome your feedback of guys who may become aces and/or may be great fantasy prospects (lots of speed/power/Ks for pitchers) moreso than actual great prospects (defense doesn't matter)
I could also take Ike Davis or Antonio Bastardo since they are closer to the majors
