Well rounded team?

Postby nochance » Mon Apr 05, 2010 8:46 pm

I'm in a H2H league on Yahoo public.

They count R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP.

C - Jorge Posada
1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Jose Lopez
3B - Pablo Sandoval
SS - Yunel Escobar
OF - Adam Lind
OF - Andre Either
OF - Michael Cuddyer
Util - Carlos Gonzalez
Util - Casey Blake
BN - Juan Uribe
BN - Buster Posey

SP - Felix Hernandez
SP - Chris Carpenter
P - Matt Cain
P - Jorge De La Rosa
P - Bronson Arroyo
P - JA Happ
RP - Fransisco Cordero
RP - Joba Chamberlain
BN - George Sherrill
BN - Brian Matusz
BN - Octavio Dotel

I'm already starting to tinker. Tell me what you think.

Shaun Marcum for Bronson Arroyo
Kyle Blanks for Buster Posey

Ricky Romero for George Sherrill
Alberto Callaspo for Juan Uribe

Still not sure about the last 2.

Sherrill replacements still out there are Mat Latos, Clay Buchholz, Scott Feldman, Jason Frasor, Nick Blackburn, Wade Davis.
Uribe replacements still out there are Casey McGehee, Scott Sizemore, Ian Desmond, Chris Getz.

Even though Joba got roughed up a little bit, I'm hoping he can get back into his grove of the 8th inning man. But Dave Robertson is also intriguing. I can see him being Joes go to guy for 1 or 2 innings every few games.

Anyways just tell me what you guys think. Thanks

Marcum brought a no hitter into the seventh but lost it, and he has been out for a year so expect nothing but good things from the Jays ace. You could probably use another reliable hitter in your lineup. Unless Joba gets into the rotation or gets closer, which both right now seem out of reach, especially after last night..then I think he is a waste of space on your roster. Sherrill is probably not going to take out Broxton neither, so he seems pretty irrelevant. I'd take Clay Bucholz for Sherrill, Marcum for either Arroyo or Chamberlain that is your call, and maybe someone to take Uribe's place. Uribe is pretty irrelevant almost every year, and keep an eye on Cuddyer because he is either good or just mediocre...so maybe look for a replacement, but that is what i would do.

Franklin Gutierrez, Nick Johnson, Scott Rolen, Mike Cameron, Jeff Francoeur are the best hitters aside from Callaspo. But I wanted him to fill up INF spots.

Should I drop Chamberlain for a RP?

I understand, if you needed an INF then I would go with Rolen, but if not get Cameron, Johnson, or Guettierez

Team now looks like this

C - Jorge Posada
1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Jose Lopez
3B - Pablo Sandoval
SS - Yunel Escobar
OF - Andre Either
OF - Adam Lind
OF - Michael Cuddyer
Util - Carlos Gonzalez
Util - Casey Blake
BN - Casey McGehee
BN - Kyle Blanks

SP - Felix Hernandez, Chris Carpenter, Matt Cain, Brian Matusz, Ricky Romero, Jorge De La Rosa
SP/RP - J.A. Happ, Sean Marcum
RP - Joba Chamberlain, Fransisco Cordero, Octavio Dotel

I think my team is pretty much done, unless I tinker with with the bench.

It's tough to tell how good your team is without knowing how many teams are in your league, but I must say... you have really, really good pitching.
