should i drop someone for Heyward? who?

Postby BaseballYanksfan1 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 8:21 pm

in a league where I players go to waivers once called up to majors so since today was Heywards first officail game he is now on waivers til tomorrow! I have the #1 waiver so I'm wondering if he is worth using it this early? Judging by his day today I'm thinking yes and if so don't want to risk someone else getting him!

here is my team in a 10 team H2H

C McCann
1B Fielder
2B Phillips
3B Longoria
SS Escobar
OF J. Upton
OF Bay
OF Dunn
UT Span
BN Matsui
BN Beltre
BN Quentin
DL Beltran

SP F. Hernandez, J. Johnson, J. Peavy, J, De La Rosa, D. Price
RP F. Cordero, B. Fuentes, R. Franklin, M. Gonzalez
BN J. Jurrjens, A. Bailey, J. Sanchez, S. Marcum
BN R. Harden, J. Cueto, J. Frasor

I know I don't need 6 closers for 4 spots so was thinking of dropping Frasor!
Any other ideas?

I'd drop Frasor for Heyward. Seems like you have too many RP anyway

I drafted so many because I wasn't sure about the status of Bailey...so I wanted other options off the bench

would you start Heyward over Span or should I just keep heyward on the bench and watch him for a little bit?

Lucky you, definitely drop Frasor or even Johnny Cueto if you have to, but Frasor would be my first choice. You should go ahead and do this because I hear nothing and expect nothing but big things from Heyward. He looks like he has been playing in the majors for years.

Put him in over Span or Dunn if you're afraid your losing too much speed. Heyward will hit 30 jacks this year. Kids PURE.

If you put Heyward in over Span, that would be the best idea because Span's #s are replaceable, and heyward would be able to. He is ridiculously good.

Agreed at first I would have said drop Beltre or Matsui but you have a plethera of RP, Jason will bounce back from today but you have enough there to go without him. Another route would be drop one of the two I suggested then deal one of your mid-tier closers to a team with a weak closing situation for a solid bat for off your bench that would be better than the one you drop.

BUT YES GET HEYWARD WITH THE #1 WAIVER!!!! YOU"D REGRET IT FOR YEARS IF YOU DIDN'T!!!!

YES grab Heyward. I'd drop Matsui because I think Frasor's gonna be just fine.

yeah Frasor has heated competition for his job in Downs and Gregg.... Heyward should be pretty good this year. I'm seeing something like .285/27/80

Do it or you'll probably regret not doing it later on
