SP help in a small league...WHIR

Postby specificist » Mon Apr 05, 2010 7:57 pm

It's a 8 team league, rotisserie, Scoring Categories are: IP W L SV K WHIP K/9 QS

My pitching staff:
Lincecum
Wainwright
Beckett
Peavy
Liriano
Porcello
B. Anderson
DL: Webb

Relievers:
Broxton
Cordero
Aardsma
Francisco

I want to keep everyone above Porcello, but I am thinking about dropping Porcello because of his low K and K/9 rates, and Anderson because he plays on the A's. I'm willing to give up some stats on the WHIP because my relievers are quite good and can help the ERA,and WHIP that I will probably lose by dropping one of those two. On the WW is Sanchez(SF), and De La Rosa(COL) whom I am very interested in because of their potential, and the fact that they both have a significantly higher K and K/9 rate and play in a not very strong hitting division outside of the Dodgers.

Keep what you have. Porcello's K rate might have been low last year but you should expect that to improve. He has a lot of talent and could easily top last years numbers. You should look at trading Anderson if you don't want him. He is a top notch sleeper and would get you another decent SP in return. Personally I (and a lot of other people) think Anderson is going to be a borderline stud this year.

;-D ;-D ;-D Keep them both over De La Rosa and Sanchez. The only SP that I would consider dropping one of them for would be Marcum (still seems to be available in quite a few leagues), I'd grab him over any of those 4. Would drop Porcello first then Anderson to get him

I'd drop Porcello for either Marcum or Sanchez (in that order). Hang on to Anderson for now.

The thing that really bothers me about Porcello is his low K rate because it is important in 2 categories. So even if I lose in another category with Sanchez, I'll be gaining in two.

I like the way Snrub thinks!

Porcello is borderline in standard leagues to begin with and loses even more value in a format like yours with the K/9. Better to go with a K-machine like Sanchez and take your lumps in WHIP. Besides, some believe (me included) that Sanchez will take a step forward this year (like Ubaldo last year) and reduce the BBs. That said, I am a Marcum believer and think you should be too!

I personally like what you have over what else is available...and I LOVE Anderson, and would have him listed above Liriano actually.

IF you really want to drop someone, I think Porcello is the weakest link, but still like him better than the others on the wire.

thanks for helping with mine
