More overall potential, IMO. I don't think it matters that Granderson is hitting 7th and if anything, that could boost his RBI opportunities while still having a more than decent shot at 100 runs.
I think I would do the deal Bay for Granderson straight up. Their batting avg should be the same. Bay will have more RBI but Granderson will offer more SB. I just believe Granderson is more of a balanced player. Plus Granderson is playing in a better lineup and better ballpark!
Really tough call ... I love Grandy and wish I could move my Bay for him, but the Granderson owner "Just doesn't want Bay on his team" and wouldn't do a straightup.... take that for what it is. But I say go with the player you will enjoy more because both are good and bring something to the table.
I will say, though, that many careers have gone to die with the Mets ... which is why I sort of wouldn't mind moving Bay myself.
Yeah, it has to do with the lefty situation ... and that it is John Lester at that. You should point that out to the other owner and try to negotiate two other players in the deal where you get a slight advantage.
