Ethier for Jiminez??

Postby Mass Teacher » Sun Apr 04, 2010 9:16 pm

So, I'm new to the site, but I'm in a 20 team rotisserie league and week in hitting and fairly strong in pitching. Here's my team and slim pickings from free agency... Should I trade this Colorado pitcher?

Thanks

Adrian Gonzalez
Alberto Callaspo

Nolan Reimold
Chris Young

Well let me be the first to Welcome you to the Cafe!

Couple of things, will get better answers if you post League scoring categories and starting positions along with your league size and type. I'm answering it off of guessing based on how you put the players in, standard infield with an addition C/I slot, 4OF slots, 1 UTIL, 5RP and 2RP...

Overall it does look like you went pitching heavy at the top of the draft, mixed in with 1 big bat... I have to ask first do you have anything on the WW worthy? I'm guessing no cuz I'm in an 18 teamer and there isn't jack. With that said tho I think there is more value added to premium arms in bigger leagues and frankly even in a 12 team league I think you could get way more then Ethier for Ubaldo. I would look along the lines of at least Choo, Cruz, Lind, Carlos Lee and would even first try for guys like Granderson, Ellsbury or even Sizemore. One of those last 3 would be perfect for your squad as it looks like you could use a little power mixed with some speed.

Overall I don't really think its that bad of squad for a 20-teamer, actually I think its pretty good, you have one big bat, 2 stud arms with a 3rd high quality arm, upside guys like Reimold, Young, Callaspo, Niese, Hammel mixed in with vets with more stable projections like Theriot, DLee, Vlad and Posada. Quite frankly with the Lineup you have I wouldn't just hand Ubaldo away, Ehtier is a quality OFer you could use, but I think you would be giving more away then what you would get in return...

Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...

Thanks, Bazzy, for the welcome. The WW is very weak (Maybin is the best available outfielder - my weakest position), but I was pretty confident in my pitching. I felt I could get decent offense for that arm and wasn't sure if Ethier, or even a strong SB threat (Ellsbury, for instance), was the way to go.

To be honest, I accepted a trade including Rajai Davis and the new closer for the Indians (dumb) and luckily,
the commish (and the rest of the league) blocked it and brought me to my senses. Though, honestly, I'm convinced Davis is going to have a great year...

Thanks for the advice, I'm rejecting the trade...
