Tampa has joined New York as the only two teams in baseball that I will automatically sit a non-ace against. Just not worth the chance.

I'd add the Phillies to that list as well.

Maybe the Cardinals as well. The Rockies can make pitchers pay dearly as well.

He's gonna take the loss due to no run support, but the results were still generally positive.

Yeah, not a bad outing at all. I left him in there. Didn't really affect the rest of my stats.

He struggled with controlling his fastball again. Was leaving it high or outside. Great command of his curve though and had the Rays swinging and missing on it the whole night.

3 hits, 3 ER, 7K to go with the 5 BB. Quality Start.

Impressive start against one of the best offenses around. ;-D :-B

7 innings for
- only 3 hits
- only 1 extra base hit
- only 103 pitches

Also
- only the third time he's finished 7 innings in his short big league career, last 3 starts in innings 7, 6.2, 7
- three different catchers in his last 4 starts, and it's not fazing him.

5 walks is a bit messy looking, but I'm assuming that he was overly-cautious against Longoria, because he Longoria walked twice. Not the worst policy to have.

Go Gio go ;-D

Yup, it looked to me that he completely pitched around Longo. It hurt him when he walked him to lead off 4th since we all know that the lead off walk scores like 90% of the time.

All in all though a pretty good outing against one of the toughest lineups in the league. Let's see Sheets do something similar. :-o

Tough outing for GG vs. Texas. Hopefully he can bounce back in his first of two starts next week vs. SEA.

Not sure how I feel about his start last night... I would have liked more Ks vs the Mariners lineup, but a 1.14 WHIP and 7 IP is nothing to shake a stick at.
