Thanks for the help BigDunn; I've looked at your situation and here's what I see. The trade, though intriguing doesn't have as it seems at first glance. There's huge upside in Votto. He hits for power and average but if you compare him to Lee well, unless he has a big year (very possible) it's a push there. I had no idea that butler was still only 24. We've all been waiting a long time for him to come around and he's got high potential this year.I actually like him better than Markakis for this year. So Peavy for Weaver? Here too I think Peavy's poised to return to 07 form. I stick with what you've got. Hope that helps.

I dunno, as far as known production goes, there's no way I can justify not doing the trade. Markakis is a proven commodity, as is Votto. Jared Weaver's done well enough and still doesn't have a ton on his shoulders to produce. Peavy hasn't pitched at a high level in two years and he's getting up there in age. Then you have Carlos Lee that'll produce at a high level, essentially equaling (slightly surpassing Votto), but how much does he have in the tank? Finally, the renowned Billy Butler. We've been hearing about him for years, but he's never produced anywhere near the expectations. He's been a decent play, but someone we've heard so long is going to be the next big thing and hasn't reached it yet (Granted, he is still only like 24). I say take the proven and accept the trade.

I would do this deal in a second.

Votto greater then Butler (Votto might hit 40 bombs this year)
Markakis greater then Lee (even tho I love the consistency Al Cabaio brings)
Weaver greater then Peavy (I aint that high on Peavy now in the AL, in that band box US Cellular Field)
