Breakout stars for ace?

Postby Yanks ftw » Sat Apr 03, 2010 5:01 pm

I've been discussing the past few days with my friend on a deal that would see Johan Santana and Drew Stubbs come to my team and in return I would be giving up Kyle Blanks, Stephen Strasburg and Brad Hawpe. I like Hawpe's consistency and i really think their is no limit to the power potential Blanks has this year. Strasburg will have limited innings and a lower win total but in our 5X5 league his K/9 is still better than Santana. I am looking for opinions on Santana and Blanks specifically. good deal?
My team
C Victor MARTINEZ
1B Albert Pujols
2B Howie Kendrick
3B Kevin Youkilis
SS Erick Aybar
OF Curtis Granderson
OF Andre Ethier
OF Carlos Gonzalez
Util Magglio Ordonez
Bench : Brad Hawpe
Kyle Blanks

Pitchers : Jon Lester, Clayton Kershaw, Jered Weaver, Tim Hudson, Stephen Strasburg, Bobby Jenks, George Sherrill

If you can net something other than Stubbs, I would do this for sure. Non keeper makes is evident....

However, I am nolt entirely sold until I know what players will round out your roster.... You are going to have to fill a spot.

As presented, I don't think I do it. You have enough pitching to perhaps wait for Strasburg... Blanks and Hawpe could fill in your lineup.

Normally, I jump on this, but I want to know how you fill your roster.

HELP ME? It's a quickie.

filling my roster shouldn't be that hard, there is a lot of talent in OF on our pools waiver list. This trade has been counter offered with Beckett replacing Santana. thoughts? on the surface level it seems a bit discouraging after becketts brutal outing last night. im also a yankee fan and hate beckett to begin with haha

Non-keeper league, I'm probably doing Blanks, Hawpe, and Stras for even just Johan, especially with the outfielders you already have. I could really only see you playing Blanks or Hawpe over Magglio. Pull the trigger, but if you can wiggle out an extra player besides Stubbs (maybe a low-end closer?) that'd be fantastic as well.

I agree with Santana in there, but I would decline with Beckett. Not because of his game last night but because of his division and league. NL is easier than the AL and ANY division is better than the AL East.

I'd do it in a non-keeper for sure.

both of us have hit a road block in trade negotiations.... he wants to trade me beckett for the players im giving up to try and get santana....Im much more interested in santana at this point and i think my rotation needs another NL pitcher. Current trade talk :

TRADING AWAY - Magglio Ordonez, Kyle Blanks, Tim Hudson
RECEIVING - Johan Santana, David Ortiz, Drew Stubbs

thoughts?? I am very inclined to do this deal, however, i was happy with drafting Hudson and Blanks for my very late picks. I think Hudson will have a very strong 2010 and Blanks has already displayed his power last night. need help please
