Sure, both pitchers are on the decline. see if you can unload one of your SS's in the trade also. You already have a pretty solid OF.

I'm not sure it matters does it? I'd call Johan and Carp a coin flip (and I actually prefer Johan), so adding Heyward is just gravy. Obviously it's a lot less gravy if he doesn't have a realistic slot to keep Heyward in, but it's still gravy.

To the OP - who were you planning to drop to fit Heyward in?

No question ... I am higher on Santana than Carpenter for some reason (call it one guy being due to rebound and the other seemingly of the same health bill as Frank Thomas circa early 2000s ... great production/shelf/production/shelf...). And Heyward is, as said above, the gravy indeed.

Great trade. I see Santana and Carp posting similar numbers this season. Plus you get Heyward ;-D

For me it's K's- Both guys will, if they play well, post pretty good ratios, but Johan is far more likely to brush up against 200 Ks and I can see Carpenter getting something more like 150-ish. Part of that is health related of course, but not all of it.

Not sure you "need" the change... but based on pure value you make this deal.

HELP ME? It's a quickie.
