I have mediocre starters! Help me!

Postby joepig » Sat Apr 03, 2010 10:25 am

In a 12 team league
Stat categories: R, RBI, SB, OBP, SLG
Weekly Change League (set lineup on Monday)
These are my batters and starters as of now:
C-Joe Mauer
1B-James Loney
2B-Brandon Phillips
3B-David Wright
SS-Derek Jeter
LF-Juan Rivera
CF-Torii Hunter
RF-Nick Markakis
Util-Alex Rios
B-Juan Pierre
B-Adam LaRoche
B-Conor Jackson
B-Cody Ross

Here's my problem: You should be getting better RBI and SLG numbers from your first baseman than Loney, unless he has a breakout year. My questions, for me, are at 1B, LF, and Util. I have plenty of stolen bases to go around. Question #1-Can I insert Pierre in there for more run production and dominate SB's too? Question #2-Can I expect better numbers from LaRoche or Loney? Question #3- What kind of season would you expect form Conor Jackson? Question #4 - Is Alex Rios worth starting at Util? I look at him as a 5 tool player.

Thanks for the help. WHIR

Well I think its fairly obvious your best strategy with that team is go for SB/R/Avg and I hope you have good pitching staff. Many say you cant count on avg --not true you can. Connor Jackson will give you good avg and he is starting out at top of order I believe. Get Pueere in there for rs and Sbs.
I have never drafted team intionally that way but I have been successful switching in mid yr. Always easy to trade any semblance of pwer for speed.
As long as you have good pitching you can pull it off.

I agree 100% with Pochucker, you can be pretty competitive with the lineup you have, but you will have to make a big move mid season to get you over the hump. I think Brandon Phillips with blow up for ya.
