I am thinking about doing this deal. I am pretty down on Victorino this year batting 7th and the other manager is so desperate for saves that he is willing to take Jon Rauch.
It seems every year this is the year Abreu is going to start acting his age, but he never really does.
Thoughts?

Was this posted before or after Rauch was announced as the actual closer, and not part of a committee? I think you might be able to get better return for a good name and a announced closer (although I'm also down on Victorino this year).

I got it yesterday.....I just read that Rauch was announced as the official closer, so I think it was sent when it was still closer by committee
Hmm. If that's the case i might try countering with something a little more pointed. Rauch's value is quite possibly never going to higher than it is between now and when he half-asses his first save so if you have an actual buyer then reel him in for the max.
I'm another one of those guys who never drafts Abreu because, honestly, how long can the guy continue to produce? Woops...I drafted him this year. I'm not expecting 30/30 or even 20/30 this year. But .285, 15HR, 85RBI, 85R, 20SB is not out of the question. Victorino will probably put up a .280, 10HR, 55RBI, 90R, 25SB season. You give up 5 SBs or so for a bunch of power and RBIs. And Rauch, well, it's only a matter of time for him...
Agreed with the poster above about a more pointed counter.
In my league (which counts doubles, walks, singles, etc...), Abreu is a beast because he does everything except mash homers. But in a 5x5, I think that Rauch (right now) should be able to land you a bit more along with Victorino. For example, I think they could land you Granderson (depending on if you like him more than Abreu) or possibly an elite steals guy like an Ellsbury-- since Victorino is no slouch and Rouch rounds out the package.
Do you want Abreu more for his all-around game or you looking for more RBIs in general?
I agree. It doesn't hurt by countering and milking Rauch's appointment.... You can do this without insulting him and you could come back to original deal if you wish. You and he are in the right area to finish deal. I am also down on Victorino. I gave him up with de la Rosa to get Dunn and Hill.

I just figured that Abreu will give me a 2-3 more homers and 40 more RBI's. I am down on this whole Victorino batting 7th thing, I just don't see how he can improve on his numbers from last year by moving from 2nd in that lineup to 7th.
