Don't waste your time with him, I doubt he has any impact this year with Aroldis lurking in the minors.

Not a disaster either. Despite the 7 walks, he did fine. Whether he sticks around or not is another question.

I know the 7 walks look bad, but it really was a pretty good start. I watched the whole thing. He was impressive.

Leake has now had his first lousy start. He did go 7 innings vs. the Dodgers, but 5 ERs ain't too pretty. Only 1 BB though. Not sure what his value is, or how much he even has, going forward from here.

He shouldn't have come out for a 7th inning. I think, as a fantasy asset, Leake is only going to have value to whoever currently owns him. I drafted him in my 20 team dynasty league (5 years running, yay!) and I'm hoping he does turn into Tim Hudson. Everyone else looks at him and sees the walks, completely disregarding that Leake has always had crazy good control (NCAA, AFL, spring training).

Thoughts on how this guy is progressing? Every article you read on this guy says he has incredible control, yet the walks pile up. He has the astros and the mets coming up. I'm thinking this should be a good time to throw him in the lineup if you''re ever gonna.

With all the media brouhaha surrounding Strasburg imminent arrival, I thought it necessary to bump this tread :-)

After 10 starts, Leake is sporting a 4-0 record to go with a 2.45 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP AND an 838OPS.

He's always gone 6 innings, has exceeded 100 pitches just twice (for those expecting Dusty Baker to kill his arm), and if you discount his first two starts has averaged just 2.2 walks / 9IP.

Granted his BABIP is like in the .240s and is bound to correct at some point... but he's been nowhere near as lucky as, say, Jaime Garcia.

Leake is definitely more valuable as an actual baseball player as opposed to a player on your fantasy team. As a Reds fan, he has quickly become one of my favorite players. If you get the chance, check out one of his starts. He just knows how to play. He is a very solid hitter and is even pretty adept at bunting. Also fields his position very well.
That being said, he has been very useful in my 18 team dynasty league with QSs.
