Jeff Clement [C] Eligible Starting at [1st] - Yahoo Leagues

I usually can find a bench spot for a Catcher who is starting at any other position and always a player who was a former #1 draft pick.

Jeff Clement was a much ballyhooed prospect back in 2008 when he hit 28 homers in AAA the previous year.
His progression at catcher was delayed by a stupid GM, (who was fired right after) and some injuries (leg, knee)
He is Mike Napoli with more HRs and does not have to squat all day saving the wear and tear.
That plus he turns 26 this year = big upside.
With a full time gig and no injury I am projecting 60r/22hr/74rbi/1sb/.267avg Not bad for WW fodder and there is upside in regard to HRs and Rbis.


Worse case you dump him after he loses his starting first base gig.

I botched C in one of my drafts and ended up taking Bengie Molina. After I saw Clement on the WW and realized he'd play pretty much everyday at first, I dumped Molina and snagged him instead. If he flops, I'll swing a trade or grab some other warm body off the WW.

Hard to find a C with good upside who'll play as many games...

Well Mr. Topic Police,
I went back 4 pages and did not see one.
Most readers who are looking for updated information usually stick to the first few pages of the update forum, so I thought it worthy of a new post.
I can certainly stop posting little updates like this if they are causing too much clutter.. just thought I was helping out my cafe mates.

It's no biggie. Easiest way to see if a post exists is to click "Advanced Search" in the upper right hand corner, then type in Clement and highlight "Injuries & Player Updates" and "Baseball Leftovers". This eliminates all of the misc posts in the DTW forum that aren't pertinent to what you want to post versus just using the generic Search option that searches all of the forums.

Clement is someone I am definitely targeting in my 2 C NL only league auction tomorrow and someone I am keeping an eye on in my mixed leagues. Great prospect, C eligible, and playing at 1B equals = POSSIBLE FANTASY GOODNESS.

Well, speaking for myself I thank you for this little tidbit, as I was looking for a backup catcher to Napoli, and I may have found someone who will log more games and perhaps do even better, and no one in my league has snagged him yet. Thanks.
