(Keeper league) Verlander, Bailey, Fuentes FOR Ryan Howard?

Postby dukefan » Fri Apr 02, 2010 12:55 am

I trade: Justin Verlander, Andrew Bailey, Brian Fuentes

I receive: Ryan Howard

I would put Cano at 2B, Morales would move to util and I could trade Kinsler for another position of need.

There's replacement closers on the list that could get me the same amount of saves such as dotel closing for the pirates and lindstrom for the astros??

Maybe another SP??

I'm not sure if I would want to rely on Dotel. Not only is he not as dominant as bailey imo, he will be pitching for a weak Pittsburgh team, limiting his save opportunities. That being said, picking up Howard provides a lot of pop for you. You'd have two roster spots to fill up and would maybe be able to pick up a decent SP (look for vicente padilla as a short term pick up, especially in the first week when he will get two starts). Other SPs I think will do better than others do are Joel Pineiro and Brad Penny.
Please help me with analyzing my team? viewtopic.php?f=29&t=433592

Well, I wouldn't hesitate to do this. You get a first-rounder with bankable and elite power for three solid, but potentially replaceable components. You should be able to replace the saves if you are on top of injuries and the wire. Verlander is a very good pitcher, but he's not in the top tier at his position like Howard.

Yes. Do it before he revokes the offer! Howard has huge value. Closers can easily be replaced if one is diligent on the WW. Since this is a keeper, you know Howard will carry your team for years to come, while Verlander could be injured or lose it again (remember he has not always be consistent from year to year) and I doubt you were keeping Bailey or Fuentes, anyway.

bump what do u guys think of me trading one of kinsler or cano to get Josh Johnson OR Gallardo??

I am loaded at 2B and if I lose Verlander in this trade...then i can just pick up another elite SP

I value Kinsler and Cano quite a bit more then Johnson or Gallardo. If you can improve the Coghlan black hole in your OF with this trade, then I might would think about it.

some retard in my league just dropped shane victorino and mclouth...they are on the waviers and im 5th in the order so hopefully I'll get one of them and that will help out my OF situation

You think I should trade one of my 2B for an OF or another SP and CL
