12 team weekly H2H 5x5 league
Now that I dropped Beltrán to the DL in this weekly transaction league, who should I grab? Seems like some of these FAs have some major upside or some utility in terms of starting pitchers who can be plugged in the RP slots. What say you? Leave a link and I'll help if I can.
Roster:
C Bengie Molina (SF - C)
1B Albert Pujols (StL - 1B)
2B Chase Utley (Phi - 2B)
3B Ian Stewart (Col - 2B,3B)
SS Alexei Ramírez (CWS - SS)
OF Shin-Soo Choo (Cle - OF)
OF Michael Cuddyer (Min - 1B,OF)
OF Matt Holliday (StL - OF)
Util Ryan Ludwick (StL - OF)
BN Erick Aybar (LAA - SS)
BN Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B)
BN OPEN
DL Carlos Beltrán (NYM - OF) DL
----------------------------
SP Josh Beckett (Bos - SP)
SP Ubaldo Jiménez (Col - SP)
RP Andrew Bailey (Oak - RP)
RP Frank Francisco (Tex - RP)
P John Lackey (Bos - SP)
P Chris Pérez (Cle - RP)
P Octavio Dotel (Pit - RP)
BN Ben Sheets (Oak - SP)
BN Ted Lilly (ChC - SP)
FAs:
Drew Stubbs (Cin - OF)
Ian Desmond (Was - 2B,SS)
Adam LaRoche (Ari - 1B) - Was thinking this should be the choice although he'd only play in the Util spot unless Albert gets hurt
Josh Willingham (Was - OF)
Nick Johnson (NYY - 1B)
Brett Gardner (NYY - OF) - 2nd choice due to steals upside and 1st starting gig
Erik Bedard (Sea - SP) DL
Ryan Rowland-Smith (Sea - SP)
Mat Latos (SD - SP)
Andy Pettitte (NYY - SP)
Scott Feldman (Tex - SP) - Owned in my other couple leagues
Kevin Millwood (Bal - SP)
Justin Masterson (Cle - SP,RP) - out of position wins could be helpful
Jaime García (StL - RP)- out of position wins could be helpful
Fausto Carmona (Cle - SP)
Thanks!!

I'd go either Desmond or Stubbs right now. Laroche normally doesn't get going until the second half, so skip him for now, but grab him about mid-June if you still have a spot.

i've only played daily transaction roto and never H2H baseball before, much less weekly transaction H2H. Which guy would be a better fit for this team?

I'm going with Nick Johnson. Get him while he's healthy. If he starts off good try and trade him quick.

I think I'd go with Latos there. You're already short Lilly for most of April, and who knows with Sheets (but chances are you'll see some DL time there). I think Latos would shore up your rotation and he's probably got at least as much upside as any of the hitters on that list. You're already rocking 4 RPs anyway, so I wouldn't priviledge the dual eligibility of a guy like Masterson too much.
If you're dead set on a bat I'd probably grab Desmond. Stubbs is good too, but with Desmond you have the potential to realize a lot more value if he works out (2B eligible and all that). That's my two cents anyway.
