I missed most of my draft and got stuck with an auto-draft team (possibly salvageable, but needs a lot of work). I got stuck with Iannetta as my catcher, which would be OK if he was playing everyday, but as he's most likely not playing everyday has me concerned.
Would you drop Iannetta for any of the following? A.J. Pierzynski Miguel Olivo (same team, same deal as Iannetta) John Baker Kelly Shoppach (most likely the #2 catcher on his team) Drew Butera (most likely the #2 catcher on his team)
One last guy who interests me is Jeff Clement, as he's probably going to be the everyday 1B for Pittsburgh, but is C eligible in my league.
Don't feel too bad about Iannetta. A lot of talking heads are expecting good things from him. Playing time might be an issue in Colorado this year (for a lot of players...) but I think Iannetta has a higher ceiling than any of those mentioned. I expect a rebound, personally. Dude can mash. If his playing time goes kablooey or he just plays awful i'd look to Pierzynski, but for now stick with Iannetta
Dropping him for any of those options would be tough, but I am very high on Clement. (And Olivo is the reason I avoided Iannetta this year.) I guess, hold on for now and see how things go, if you don't have another roster spot open. If you do, I'd think about stashing Clement. (I am probably more optimistic about Clement than most.)
As of now Ianneta is the guy I'd take, but if the Rock's are platooning him too much then go get AJ or Clement. But if Ianneta is getting the bulk of time then he should be the best of that bunch
I'd go with AJ. He won't get you much power, but he will get you a good AVG and some stolen bases. Ianetta screwed me last year. I saw him perform well in the World Baseball Classic then drafted him and he was a bust. (I had a lot of busts on my team last year: Rollins, Ianetta, Chris Davis, Brandon Webb)
