Need a RP... Who to trade.. WHIR

Postby Deux » Tue Mar 30, 2010 3:52 pm

I'm in a standard Yahoo 5x5 head-to-head 12 team league that scores on R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

C-Brian McCann
1B-Prince Fielder SP- Roy Oswalt
2B-Brandon Phillips SP- A.J. Burnett
3B-Michael Young RP-Jose Valverde
SS-Troy Tulowitzki RP- Frank Francisco
OF-Adam Lind P- David Price
OF-Andre Ethier P-Ted Lilly
OF-Jason Bay Bn- Francisco Liriano
Util- Hideki Matsui Bn- Ervin Santana
Bn- Miguel Montero Bn- Max Scherzer
Bn- Kevin Slowey

AS you can see I have more SP than I need (8 if Liriano is a SP as everyone expects him to be), so I wanted to trade one or two away for a good RP. I know someone in my league who has

Hanson, Garza, and Sheets as SP and M. Rivera, J. Broxton, B. Wagner and T. Hoffman as RP who is looking for Starting Pitchers. So my question is what should I propose as i trade to get a RP? I'd prefer B. Wagner over Hoffman as those are the two I see i'm more likely to get a trade for.

Sorry, had to repost it so I could read it easier... If you really want Wagner I would probably start off with Lilly if no, then Santana and I wouldn't go any higher then Scherzer. I'm still not 100% sold on Wagner being able to stay healthy all year, but I can see why you would shoot for him, young then Hoffman, and much less expensive then Broxton and Rivera. I would just for fun try shooting him AJ for Broxton to see if he would bite, probably not, but AJ I think is a lowly #2, High K rate, but a little overvalued IMO. Solid staff, but honeslty I may only trade a couple backend starters because you don't have a true ace. Oswalt is an injury concern, Lilly will miss at least the first 2 starts of the year if not more, Liriano is either big boom or huge bust, Santana coming of a shaky year still needs to improve, Scherzer moved leagues and into a non-pitcher friendly park and Slowey had season ending wrist surgery in which they put 2 pins in his throwing wrist. So there are definitely some questions there, If it were me I would roll with 2 Closers as saves are ALWAYS able to be had throughout the year on the WW and instead shift my focus to try and combo maybe a Burnett/Price together and go after a true ace.

Thanks a lot, I think i will stick to my rotation and try to pick up someone with saves later on in the WW.Slowey's having a really good spring, so hopefully he keeps it going into the season. But Oswalt i'm not too sure about either. Thanks again for the help ;-D
