I play in a 6x6, H 2 H daily transaction keeper league that counts OPS and holds, and which has individualized outfield positions. I am looking to pick up Johnny Cueto, since I think this could be the year that he puts it all together. As I see it, Ben Sheets is the weakest link currently in my rotation (although I am open to other suggestions of who to drop).
As always, I'll answer any of yours in return - just post a link.
Here is my current roster:
C: Geovany Soto (C) 1B: Miguel Cabrera (1B) 2B: Aaron Hill (2B) 3B: Ryan Zimmerman (3B) SS: Stephen Drew (SS) LF: Carlos Lee (LF) CF: Grady Sizemore (CF) RF: Jason Heyward (RF) Util: Carlos Quentin (LF) Bench: Nyjer Morgan (LF, CF) Asdrubal Cabrera (2B, SS) Mark DeRosa (1B, 3B, LF, RF) SP: Chris Carpenter, Tommy Hanson, Ricky Porcello, Ervin Santana, Francisco Liriano, Ben Sheets RP: Mariano Rivera, Joakim Soria, Leo Nunez, Fernando Rodney
Thanks, guys!

I wouldn't. I qualify them as both pretty high-upside, low-investment risks. Just don't start Sheets until you see him get it together in the regular season. I'd keep an eye on Cueto, but I wouldn't make the switch just yet.
Sheets could give you SP1 numbers if he gets it together. I can't say the same for Cueto, at least not this season. I would rather have Sheets by a long shot.
As an owner of Sheets this year, I know the spring ERA of 17+ has to be a little disconcerting, but 30 starts of Sheets' could be very, very valuable if he can get them.
I agree with the rest here, while I like Cueto, I think Sheets has the higher upside this year. Especially since he plays in OAK (pitcher friendly) and Cueto plays in the Great American Smallpark.
If you're REALLY content on picking him up though the only other people I'd consider dropping would be Rodney or possibly DeRosa.
I like the idea of keeping Sheets for now. If not for anything else, but as a stash. I do like Cueto, but agree his progress may be in a bit of suspended animation. What I would do, is drop DeRosa as the poster stated above. There's no real need to carry 3 bench bats and you're very solid in all 4 positions DeRosa would cover for.
