This is a money league where we drafte just our starters. Now we are allowed to add up to 3 bench players if we choose to, but must pay cash for each one.
We set rosters each week, and only get to start 4 SP's each week.
K/9, W, S, ERA, WHIP
I have: Kershaw Gallardo Lackey Burnett BN-Scherzer
I think I should add another SP, and each week go with guys who start twice.
Free agents are: R. Harden J. Shields S. Baker G. Floyd F. Liriano P. Hughes B. Sheets J. Danks E. Jackson J. Sanchez J. De La Rosa
I'm considering Harden because we are using K/9 as a stat. Also because we get to pick someone up for free while a player is on the DL.
Depending on the size of your league, Baker, Floyd, and Danks all really should be rostered... I would take any of those 3 before I took Harden, and I'd also drop Scherzer to pick one of them up... possibly Burnett as well.
I would grab Shields immediately, he should fare better than last year, and with your starter limitations you don't have to use him when he pitches in Yankee Stadium and so on.
Sanchez could also be worthwhile for his monstrous K/9 and if you only use him in his home park against favorable opponents he'll get you some wins, too.

It's a 10 team league, but each team only drafted 4 SP's. So 40 SP's were drafted in total.
I was thinking Harden because K/9 is a stat and it is a H2H league where you only use 4 SP's each week. In that situation you still would rather have Baker?
It makes a little more sense when you say the top 40 SP were drafted, but still.
I would use my 3 open slots to pick up Danks, Shields, and Baker.
Drop Scherzer to pick up Floyd.
These guys have proven track records, good springs, great peripherals, and minimal risk. I wouldn't gamble and roster Liriano or Jonathan Sanchez before any of these guys. If you check most ranking systems, Danks, Shields, Baker, and Floyd all reside in the Top 40 SP...
