I currently have one open spot on my roster and am wondering what is my greatest team need and who I should pick up out of these guys listed below?
Here are some available FAs: Hitters - Polanco(2B/3B), Scutaro(SS), Cantu(1B/3B), Branyon((1B), Overbay(1B), Schumaker(2B/OF), Bradley(OF) SP – Pineiro, Feldman, Buehrle, Pettite, Marquis, Correia, Millwood, Pavano, D. Lowe, Davis, Penny RP – The only decent RPs on FA are Downs, Guerrier and Mijares.
Are there any other drops/adds or trades I should try and make?
Thanks for your help! Leave a link and I will help you too!
I would take Bradley and keep Cantu and Polanco on your radar. You probably need pitching more than hitting, but with that group you could just wait until one emerges (I'm sure there will be plenty other pitchers that emerge too).
I'd grab Polanco, with Bradley a close second. I just like the idea of a professional hitter like Polanco batting in the two-spot for that Phillies offense.
Feldman and Pettite would be SP's I would think about grabbing. Feldman has big upside, if he can continue his strong showing from last year, and Pettite is the model of consistency at an inconsistent position.
I think you should trade one of Hill, Jeter, and Zobrist to upgrade your OF or pitching - those guys are too good to have one sitting on the bench (and it's worth more to start Zobrist in the middle infield) so I think you can get a Markakis/C. Lee/Dunn-level OF for one of those guys.
As for the FA's, none of those pitchers excite me, but I would probably take Pettitte since you already have an overcrowded offense and the best hitting candidates (Polanco and Bradley) play at positions where you already have a ton of excellent options.
Just wondering if that is Doug or Wade Davis that is still available. If it is Wade I would take a chance on him in a dynasty, if it's not Beurhle, Pettitte or Feldman. You need a nice solid SP there.
As for trading Hill, Jeter or Zobrist as suggested above, I would trade Zobrist or Jeter. Zobrist has the most hype out of any of them and think he will get you the most return. I personally think Hill will outperform him this year, a lot of people see a regression from Hill but not me (and that isn't the Jays fan in me). If you want to keep Zobrist b/c he can play multiple positions then deal Jeter, he may just have enough left in the tank to get you a really good young SP. But I would also caution you if Zobrist plays a full season at 2B he will loose a lot of his value by loosing the multiple eligibility.
Your infield is set, obviously, though I wouldn't argue against a Cantu for Hafner swap. I think your greatest needs are OF (specifically, power) and SP. I'd probably pick up Bradley for your extra spot. He'll be hitting cleanup for an improved Seattle offense. I'm not sure any of those SP offer much to help your staff. It'd be a shame to have a productive and versatile Zobrist or Derrek Lee sit on the bench - maybe you could deal for a SP?
