This is a tough call. Obviously, you lose value at SP this year, and probably next year as well. Beckett seems to be undervalued by a lot of owners right now. You do get the best player in Prince, but you lose a potential top-3 3B in Zimmerman. And you have to worry about development for Stratsburg: Riggleman managed Kerry Wood into Tommy John surgery after his first season. If you do the deal, you are banking on Stratsburg being as good as the hype. He may very well be, but I would stand pat.

Thanks for the help on mine. Good luck!

I agree with the rest...this is a real tough call. I'd try to see if he'd go for a step below Beckett, possibly Shields... And even if he says no, I still think I'd do this and here's why:

Yes, you'd be losing a lot of value in Zimm & Beckett, but look who you already have at those positions; Longo @ 3rd and basically 2 more Aces & Shields at SP.

Add to that the fact that you get a YOUNG Fielder & possibly the best prospect in baseball...yes this is a tough one, but you'll be fine @ 3rd and your SP staff can handle the loss of Beckett

thanks for helping with mine.

I added a question if you get a chance:

This is tough... I agree that Beckett is being undervalued here, but Prince is being undervalued imo too... He's probably the most valuable player in this deal... Longterm keeper, the guy is not even 26 yet just like Zimm... DLee is a decent 1B, but Prince is a HUGE upgrade especially in the long term.

I'd say that getting Stras and Prince hurts you in the short term, without a doubt, and you do have a team that can compete now. It puts you in a great situation longterm, and I think you could still compete now after making the deal.

Zimm+DLee = Prince+Nyjer IMO

Beckett>>Stras this year, but this may be able to be offset by getting a WW/FA pitcher to plug in and stash stras on the bench. In an 8 teamer I'd think there is some talent on the WW.

All in all I think I'd make the deal, but it'd depend on the FA talent to fill your extra roster spot.

thanks for your input on mine

I think in a long term keeper league, I do this deal in a hot minute. Lee is an aging star, with injury concerns. Beckett is an excellent pitcher, but you pick up two long-term young keepers that you can build around in the future. I make this deal.
Please take a look at my Keeper issue: viewtopic.php?t=405847

Thanks for the help, sorry for my late response. Anyways, I wouldn't do this trade. It downgrades your team in the short-term considerably. Zimmerman will be superb in a few years with the potential of Longoria-like numbers. You are getting Strasburg who could take off quickly once he's called up, but again, you're risking too much of how you'll be this season by losing Zimmerman and Beckett. However, it does depend if you can continue to keep Strasburg each year or you eventually have to give him up, if you can keep him forever, then I'd accept the trade.
