Who you taking at 6?

Postby Nighttrain » Mon Mar 29, 2010 2:33 pm

In a standard 12 team H2H league, who would you take at #6. Top 5 will def be Pujols, Hanley, Arod, Utley, Braun.

Kemp: Had a great year and projected to be a great power/speed combo. Downside is he is an OF and there are so many. Would like to grab Holiday in 2nd, Bruce, Cargo, Heyward, Blanks, Laporta
Longoria: Great year last year and plays a shallow position. Downside is he will not give me the speed Kemp will. Will hope to get Zimmerman if I pass on him
Tex: Projected to have a monster power year. Downside, 1st base is deep but most elite guys will be gone by the time I pic in the 2nd. Would prob wind up with Dunn or Ortiz if I pass on him based on my projections

I actually like Longoria at this pick here and here are a couple reasons why...

1. Covers a big need at 3B with a top bat
2. After seeing some drafts not Teixeira is somehow or another becoming a 'smaller name' at the top of the draft, which means theres a decent chance you COULD get him back in round 2, not likely but better shot of that happening then getting Longoria on the comeback.
3. Going off of the last point, 1B is really deep this year, yes there is a drop off from the Elites to the next level, but not as big from 3B Elite to the next level.
4. I love Kemp and the all around stats he puts up, but there are a couple deciding factors for me. 4a. OF is much, much deeper. 4b. I see Manny on the decline bigtime this year and although Kemp did well without Manny last year, its still an element of protection when Manny is there and on top of his game.

Overall I think Longoria has the most value with his position, the team around him in Tampa isn't too shaby and he puts up monster power numbers. Combo him with an all around guy in the 2nd round and a cat who hits for big average in the 3rd and you have one helleva start.

Help me out...

Kemp for me. His great power/speed combo without hurting you anywhere gives you an ideal base to build upon.
