Best option for Holds. WHIR 100%

Postby saemick » Mon Mar 29, 2010 12:25 am

Once the Indians officially put Wood on the DL, I'll have an open roster spot. Since my league has HOLDS as a category, I'm looking to add a setup guy. Of the below options, who would be the best for picking up the most HOLDS, while also not hurting me on ERA & WHIP:

Joba Chamberlain (NYY - RP)
Luke Gregerson (SD - RP)
Daniel Bard (BOS -RP)
Esmailin Caridad (CHC - RP)

please let me know who you think and why

Gregerson for me. Very good K/9 and walk rates in a good park and could become a closer in season with a Heath Bell trade. I know this is focused towards holds but closers are going to be harder to come by than middle relievers.

Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.

I'm actually going to go with Bard. I tend to believe Tito will start using Okijima more as the 7th inning guy and give Bard a lot more looks in the 8th. He could be a monster for K/9 and I fully expect 2.--ERA.

I like Bard too, though Gregerson as close second.

I'm also really high on Bard.
