Hey. So the shortstop that was auto picked for me was Cristian Guzman, who obviously isn't starting anymore. My questions is should I trade for a better SS? Who can I afford to trade? Here is my roster:
C-Yadier Molina 1B-Nick Johnson 2B-Aaron Hill 3B-Evan Longoria SS-Christian Guzman OF-Nelson Cruz OF-Ichiro Suzuki OF-Johnny Damon Bench-Garett Atkins Bench-Cameron Maybin
Stats for hitters are: Home Runs, Runs Batted In, Stolen Bases, Strikeouts, Fielding Percentage, Batting Average, On-base Percentage, Grand Slam Home Runs
SP-Wandy Rodriguez SP-Randy Wolf SP-Fausto Carmona SP-James Shields SP-Carlos Zambrano
Bench-Mark Lowe Bench- Kenshin Kawakami Bench-Wade Davis Bench-Kyle McCellan
Stats for pitchers: Wins, Saves, Walks, Strikeouts, Holds, Earned Run Average, (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched, No Hitters
Now I'm thinking I could do without Kenshin Kawakami, and maybe I could give up one of my closers for someone like Asdrubal Cabrera. What do you guys think?
Any help? I offered a guy whos best pitcher is Eric Bedard a trade were I get Alexei Ramirez and he gets Kenshin Kawakami. If he says no to that should I make a counteroffer?
I'm in a 20 man league, so there isn't much talent left over.
Some of the SS eligable players are..
Willie Bloomquist Emilio Bonifacio Edgar Rentaria Nick Punto Yuniesky Betancourt Julio Lugo Tommy Manzella (who i'm considering, he has the starting job) Jack Wilson Alex Gonzales Mike Aviles
Edit: if you guys wanna leave a link i'll be sure to do my best to help out Joey Hairston Jr
Please help guys. At this point I just want a shortstop who actually plays. The guy hasn't accepted my Kawakami trade and he's made no moves, I don't think he'll be that active.
Well, Renteria will definitely play, given the fact the the Giants are paying him a ridiculous amount of money. He's also apparently much healthier this year.
However, you might want to deal Longoria and maybe downgrade him to Pablo Sandoval or Aramis Ramirez...something like that. That way, you could get a solid SS back in the deal. You usually want to be getting the best player in the deal, but I think this may be best for you in this case.

If this is a dynasty/some kind of keeper, I wouldn't downgrade Longoria. He is your stud. I would be all for moving some saves for an Asdrubal type.
With Alex Gordon injured, Emilio Bonifacio is starting 3B and supposedly hitting 3rd in the order. I would drop Guzman for him and try to deal for a SS. SP Depth seems to be a strength for you, and I also wouldn't hesitate dealing a closer (maybe use the recent Rauch headlines to try to move him) since saves is only 1 of 8 pitching categories.

Why not make a fair offer to begin with and offer him James Shields or Zambrano.
Grab Aviles for now... I would also be looking to make an upgrade. Kenshin is not going to return a Top-12 SS, so either step up your offer or punt the position. (which in a 20-teamer, punting SS is a perfectly acceptable decision).
