NL only Auction last night, could use opinions....

Had our draft last night, I went in needing steals, saves and some starting pitching and I didnt have much to spend due to my keepers. But I didnt need a bat really and didnt draft one. Here is our format.

10 teams
5x5 roto
280$ cap, goes up to 300$ after draft
25 positions, no bench

c- Moeller- 1$
c- Zaun- 1$
1b- Thome- 45$
2b- Alomar- 10$
ss- Counsell- 3$
3b- Ensberg- 10$
CI- Burroughs- 9$
MI- J. Hernandez- 1$
OF- Kearns- 15$
OF- A. Jones- 27$
OF- Giles- 40$
OF- Bay- 10$
OF- S.Green- 32$
Util- Bergeron- 1$
Util- Betemit- 1$

SP- Schmidt- 25$
SP- Millwood- 14$
SP- O.Perez- 1$
SP- Wells- 13$
SP- Foppert- 1$ (reserved)
P- Mantei- 19$
P- C. Fox- 1$
P- Alfonseca- 1$
P- W. Alvarez- 1$
P- Juan Acevedo- 1$
P- Weathers- 1$

Keep in mind that some of these guys were keepers, some had thier contract extended at an additional cost (Kearns), and some were WW pickups last year which is a 10$ cost. I know I need another closer and speed still, but, still looking for opinions.....

Thanks

I like your starters, you should do fine there, but as you know you'll need to probably trade one of them for a closer during the season.

I think that you have a couple of guys on your roster that are overpriced. I'd bet they were your keepers and you probably should have thrown them back. Thome, Giles, Green are all overpriced IMO.

A couple of players I'd release and pick up a free agent in place of are

Zaun...I don't think he gets enough ab's to do anything for you, but hurt you.

Bergeron...I don't think he's gonna have a job out of spring training. I know he's playing good right now, but the Expos don't have a spot on the roster for him. He could get traded, but it most likely will be to an AL team.

Betemit...I don't think he gets enough PT to help you either.

I like Moeller for $1...that's a good deal.

I think you need a little more power, unless Ensberg and Hernandez come through for you.

That roster right now, I'd say a 5th place finish unless you make some good trades/waiver wire moves throughout the year.

Hey, thanks for the reply, yeah, those 1$ guys are all likely to be reserved and I will try to wait and see if any make an impact later on. Thats the beauty of NL only, at the end of the draft, there isnt much left.
My overpriced guys are actually right in the ballpark with others, and they were keepers from last year. Thome, Giles, Green and Jones. Bonds went for 49$ and Derek Lee went for 41$ this year though so I dont feel too bad. Thanks for feedback!
