I traded away Brian McCann & Ryan Franklin for Miguel Cabrera & Huston Street a little while ago. Yes I knew Street was injured and would probably start the year on DL, but when he's healthy, I knew I'd be getting the much better deal here. I don't want to trade for a replacement when I know new closers pop up every year and I'd only need him for a few weeks at the most.
So who should I add out of these available guys: Ryan Madson, Michael Wuertz (assuming Andrew Bailey will start the year on DL), Jason Frasor (it was just announced he had won the battle for the closer's job), Matt Capps, Matt Lindstrom, or Franklin Morales (assuming he is named the opening day closer while Street is injured). Jon Rauch and Chris Perez have been picked up already.
Also, who should I drop out of these guys: Jorge De La Rosa, Miguel Montero, Rickie Weeks, or Johnny Damon. I don't really want to drop any of them so should I wait until Street is put on the DL instead? Thanks in advance. If you'd like me to return the favor, please leave a link.
Dropping De La Rosa or Damon is probably a bad idea. Weeks is my pick to deep six as well. As far as who to target, I'd probably grab one of Frasor or Lindstrom, both of whom seem to have a tenous hold on their respective closing jobs, or possibly Capps, who's tenous hold on his job is moving in the other direction. I'd probably grab Frasor before Lindstrom or Capps. I might be tempted to drop Weeks, add Frasor, and then add either Capps or Lindstom as well once Street is on the DL. Lindstrom is the guy there if anything firmer comes out about his hold on the closing job, and Capps is your backup. I like Weurtz and Madson a lot too, but I don't think Wuertz is in line for many saves unless Bailey has a setback, and Madson is in the same boat (although wuith lesser competition).
Just a question, what do have for RPs on your roster already?
Really, you have a lot of good RP options there, compared to a lot of leagues. The 13 man league I'm still drafting in is just in the 19th round and all those guys are already rostered (well, except one). Enjoy the luxury of choice.
Weeks is the guy to drop for me. I would add Frasor or Capps...Frasor edges Capps for me because he plays for the better team that might get more opportunities. That being said, I do own Capps and I think when he gets the chance he'll have success. But I guess just on shear number of potential opportunities I'd go with Frasor. I'd go Frasor then Capps simply because Frasor is a better pitcher. Madson will split time with Baez if Lidge starts on the DL and I don't think Lindstrom will remain in the closer position for long (just based on past control issues).

A few points. 1. Pecota and Accuscore have Toronto 2 games and 1 game better then Pitsburgh this year. 2. Toronto was last in save chances last year, despite winning 13 more games then Pittsburgh. 3. Save chances are in a large way dictated by close games, more then wins.
Frasor or Lindstrom over Damon, who didn't hit a lick out of Yankee Stadium.

++1, Hootie hit it on the head, Weeks has big upside and a sweet 2B position, where as I don't really see the hype in Damon moving to DTown. Like Hootie said he hit what 24 last year but 17 came in the launch pad they call NY stadium, that number will be hacked with the move to the Tigers. Also he was a hot topic a few years ago with the power and speed combo, hes gettin up there in age and the injuries are happening, thus the speed is going ladies and gents, I really think you see Damon come back down to the 10-15HR we were used to and MAYBE 15 swipes. Also everyone liked those RBI numbers that I think will fall back down to around 80-85 this year, not the 100+ the he had with the Yanks.
Weeks is an easy drop and I'd take Frasor. I would also have Lindstrom over Capps -- since the Astros aren't going to be blowing many teams out this season there figure to be a truckload of save opportunities for him. But Frasor edges both Lindstrom and Capps to me.
