Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler, sidelined since March 12th with an ankle injury, is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day and will most likely start the year on the DL. “I don’t know yet, but whatever way we go will be in the best interests of Ian,” manager Ron Washington said. “We’re not going to rush him back but we’re not ready to make that announcement.”
At his best, Kinsler can be awesome. However, between injuries and massive slumps, he's unreliable. I think the folks who grabbed him as a 2nd round player are gonna regret it...

If he goes on the disabled list, Kinsler would be eligible to come off it April 10. But that might not give him enough game action before he's ready to make his Rangers debut. Minor-league games don't begin until April 8.
Kinsler said he needs three or four games to be ready. "The whole thing is I don't know how my ankle's going to respond after playing the first game."

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- As expected, Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler will start the season on the disabled list, general manager Jon Daniels confirmed Thursday.
"We haven't made the roster move yet, but the plan is for him to open on the DL," Daniels said.

So, Rangers minor league affiliates start the 8th, and have games the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th. Rangers travel to Cleveland and play the 12th, then have the 13th off. So playing @Cleveland on the 14th could be plausible.

How about if you got him for 26 $?
I've never played auction leagues, so I don't know what that means. Is that a high price or a low price?

Still no word yet. Just toss the guy on the DL so I can lock up my replacement
Food for thought.
Kinsler needs to be able to run full speed to be a complete offensive threat. "That's part of his game," Washington said. "Does he necessarily have to steal bags? No, but that's part of his game. That's what makes him a threat."
-Manager, Ron Washington. They are going to take their time with Kinsler. And even when he does come up, I expect very conservative use of his legs. Especially if he slides into the 5 spot.
I hope this is the last time I have to stalk the IK thread this year.
Yahoo still doesn't have him on the DL. Have Texas actually DL'ed him? Deadline was Saturday. If I can't pick up a 2B today, I'll have to start the week without one.
