Return to Draft, Trade, Keeper and Waivers Questions

I'm in a standard ESPN 5x5 H2H league and I dropped Brian Matusz (I felt he was my worst pitcher) and picked up Chris Perez as my 4th closer, now I have 8 starters and 4 closers...I felt like this would help me be strong in saves every single week and eliminate some ERA/WHIP killing games from Matusz in the AL East. It was a tough call but I'm curious to see if people would have done the same thing or stuck with Matusz. I'll respond to your posts also.

4 closers is a lot and normally I would suggest getting another starter before a fourth closer but 8 starters is good. How large is your roster? Do you have any weak positions. You could trade pitching depth to help a weakness.
Help mine?

We have 2 SP, 2 RP, 5 P for pitching and my offense is:
C - K. Suzuki
1B - Teixeira
2B - Utley
3B - Zimmerman
SS - Reyes
1B/3B - Chris Davis
2B/SS - O. Cabrera or M. Tejada
OF - Ellsbury
OF - Bay
OF - N. Cruz
OF - J. Bruce
UTIL - J. Borbon
so I think I have a solid offense with the exception of batting average. Basically if Chris Perez can get 20-25 saves and Matusz doesnt improve durastically from last season, I thought it was worth it, that was my rational.

Absolutely - There's no guarantee that Matusz will have any value this year, but you know that Perez will give you some saves for a couple of months.

It's a good move. Perez will be useful for 2 months and may keep his job if he does weel some Wood is really nothing special.
Thanks for the help with mine!

I can't remember who I dropped.... I picked up Perez. I am happy doing it, as I think his closes all year after proving himself in those two months

Thanks for your response. And yes I would've done the same thing. Matusz was very inconsistent last year and being on the team he is, he won't figure to get great run support. He certainly has long-term potential, but I don't feel he's really worth much fantasy value for just this season. Perez was impressive when he did get to close on occasion last season and he'll be closing for at least a month this year if not more.
