Value in picking up Russell Martin? WHIR

Postby ROC AllStars » Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:43 am

I got stuck with $1 left in my auction to spend at C, and I ended up with Doumit, who I have no faith in health wise. Russell Martin is available (we auction starters and draft bench). Is he worth a pickup? The best offensive player I'd be passing on is Abreu, the best RP would probably be Street. My obvious weaknesses are C and RP. Leave a link, WHIR...

C: Doumit
1B: Cabrera
2B: Roberts
3B: Sandoval
SS: Reyes
OF: Holliday, C. Lee, Suzuki, Markakis (start 4)
UTIL: Jeter

SP: Haren, J. Santana, Johnson, B. Anderson, W. Rodriguez
RP: B. Wagner, B. Jenks
"This guy leads the league in most offensive categories, including nose hair..."

I'd grab Martin. Jenks &Wags are good enough for now. You can always pick up a closer later. Closers always pop up as the season goes along! ie. Franklin & Aardsma.

Thanks for the help with mine!

I think you're fine keeping Doumit....until he inevitably gets hurt. But I like his offensive potential better than Martin. Stand pat.

Thanks for the help on mine.

It's amazing how far Martin has fallen - not even getting drafted. But, I'd rather stick with Doumit - he's a top 7 or 8 C when healthy. Tremendous value for $1. If you don't have to drop anyone, Martin can't hurt either. I drafted him as my 2nd C in a league where we start two. Hoping for the best...If it doesn't cost you anything, I would grab him.

If I'm reading this correctly, you aren't dropping anyone, you're just drafting a bench. And if that's the case, then I'd definitely pick up Martin. I'm high on Doumit as well, but his health issue is a concern. And that being said, Martin would be a GREAT backup. I'd pick him up
