How valuable be McGehee?

Postby MassYankee » Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:08 am

McGehee is basically my last position player and I was considering dropping him for Matt Lindstrom who looks to be closing some games in HOU. I already have Papelbon, Rauch and Frasor, but you can never have too many saves. I've seen reports of McGehee really blossoming and also of him mastering the sophomore slump. (I had McGehee targeted from the get go, which is why I drafted him.)

Any opinions?

I have drafted McGahee thinking about is power upside and the fact that he is 2B eligible playing 3rd base. But every prediction and projectings I see about him are giving him less power than I tought last year he had 16 HR in 355 AB. I thoug he could hit 25 HR in a whole year and last year 301 AVG is great too. I like his age 26. He is not stiking out too much but had a carreer year in BABIP.

But what I read is that last year was an aberation, the guy hasen't been that good in the minors and he is hitting 188 in training camp.

The average prediction for him is something with the lines of

275. 18 HR 75 RBI 65 R
