Draft resumes tonight...Heyward? WHIR

Postby tabmoc72 » Fri Mar 26, 2010 4:37 pm

So our draft is resuming tonight in the 10th round. I pick 11th. 16 teams, C 1B 2B 3B SS IF 4xOF 5xSP and 4xP.

As a Braves fan and with the news today, I'm liking Heyward in this round to make sure I get him. Is this the right call, or can I get a lot more value by not worrying about him and going after proven players?

Best availables: Carlos Gonzalez, Jason Kubel, Juan Pierre, Brad Hawpe, Alfanso Soriano, Franklin Gutierrez, Chris Coglhlan, Matt Garza, Jered Weaver, Tim Hudson, Chad Qualls, Chris Davis, Todd Helton, Ryan Doumit, Martin Prado, Jorge Cantu, Erick Aybar, various others.

My team currently: Adam Dunn, Dan Uggla, Ryan Zimmerman, Yunel Escobar, Ryan Braun, Hunter Pence, Cliff Lee, Brett Anderson

Scoring categories are 5x5 with OBP and QS instead of AVG and W, respectively.

This is right around where Heyward has been going, if not earlier... if he's still available, you better pick him here if you want him this season. Unless your league is a keeper though, I don't like Heyward out-producing either Cargo or Garza this season.

Honestly, I don't know if I'd pull the trigger. However, if I was a Braves fan, I'd do it in a second. If you don't get him, every game you watch this year where he hits a bomb or rips a two RBI double off the wall, you'll be just a little less happy. This is coming from a Phillies fan who passed up Utley in the first round last year. Good luck
