Keeper Question - Lester vs. Wagner WHIR

Postby hopsjr2 » Fri Mar 26, 2010 7:31 am

12 Team Mixed League Roto, Standard 5 x 5. $266 budget.

I am keeping Braun ($38), Howard ($36), Choo ($7), Wandy ($6) and have one more spot left over.

Lester is $18 and Wagner is $5.

Lincecum, Verlander, Felix, Greinke, Carp, Wainwright, Josh Johnson, Hanson, Kershaw, Lackey are being kept at SP.

Aardsma, Franklin, R. Soriano and Bailey are being kept at RP.

I'd expect Wagner's premium to be higher at auction, but Lester is one of few elite pitchers left. Which way should I go?

I'd go with Lester. RP tend to worry me lately and unless it's Rivera or Hoffman, I would take my chances with a lesser name.

I'd take Lester, $18 is a bargain.

Lester, 18 is a decent deal, and $5 for Wagner, though good, is probably not much less than you'll pay at auction.

I agree with the consensus. Lester at $18 is solid value. I think that Wagner might go for a tad higher price, and despite is strong return, I am not sure that I am sold on his health. You are getting a bona fide ace in Lester for under $20 who can anchor your staff without completely breaking your budget.

Another Lester vote. Still good value at $18.
