58 minutes to make my keeper selections! WHIR!!

Postby makewayhomer » Thu Mar 25, 2010 11:02 pm

crunch time, keeper selections due. 15 team 7x5 with TB+BB and Offensive K's as the additional cats. $250 budget. I can sign anyone for $5 more for 2011 and another $5 for 2012, but if I cut them at anytime I lose the remaining amount from my draft budget.

here is my plan

Tommy Hanson, $4 ($9 signing for 2011, $14 for 2012?)
Corey Hart $10 (previous signing, would cost me $3 to cut him)
Kelly Johnson $10 (previous signing, would cost me $3 to cut him)
Chris Carpenter $10
Josh Johnson $10
Todd Helton $7
Gordon Beckham $10 ($15 for 2011)

I think I am locked into those 7. I can keep up to 8. my other 3 options are

Matt Wieters $13
Colby Rasmus $8 (who is killing it this spring and is batting high in the order)
Stephen Strasburg $10

Rasmus I didn't think would be even close but a huge spring by a now healthy top prospect 23 YO has to be something to pay attention to. Strasburg is even better than advertised. but Wieters is Wieters. is it clearly Wieters? does anyone remove one of my top 7 in favor of one of my bottom 3?

I would hold onto Wieters and Strasburg at those prices for this year and the next 2. I wouldn't keep Kelly Johnson.

Can you not make a last minute trade giving up one of Strasburg/Weiters and forcing the other owner to take on one of Johnson/Hart. If not I might just eat the $3 and keep Strasburg and Weiters. The $3 hit would be worth it. They both should have a ton of trade value.

I agree with Elsy. Rasmus is someone you might get back in the draft at a nice value.

last minute deal

I traded Helton, Kelly JOhnson, and Wieters for Mclouth

Kelly was a cut so giving him up is a wash with any value I had for Wieters. Helton and Mclouth values were close.

so now I have room for Strasbourg and Rasmus
