Jupiter, FL (Sports Network) - Florida Marlins speedy center fielder Juan Pierre suffered a dislocated pinky finger on his right hand during Sunday's exhibition game against the Mets.
Pierre suffered the injury while sliding headfirst on a steal attempt in the first inning. Pierre, who was safe on the play, was then sent to the hospital for x-rays, which revealed the magnitude of the injury.
He is expected to miss the next week of action, but if there is ligament damage Pierre could be out up to six weeks.
Pierre swiped an MLB-best 65 bases and earned a World Series ring last season -- his first with the Marlins.
