I agree with your premises of trying to move Javier

But I definitely don't like the first trade - You are giving up too much for the upgrade of Vazquez to Haren.

The second trade is ok but for whatever reason I don't love.

I don't like the 1st one at all, but I actually like the 2nd one a lot. I'm not that high on Markakis anyway. The bump you get at 1B from Pena will help a lot and I actually think Gallardo will be close to if not better than Vazquez...i say pull the trigger on the 2nd one

I don't like either. First base is such a deep position that you should be able to find a way to easily find a good one without giving up too much of a premium. I also like the idea of selling on Vazquez, I just don't love those trades.
