I Can't Do Math: Please Help with Auction Values

Postby kaiser » Wed Mar 24, 2010 1:12 pm

10-team H2H keeper, 5X5 cats.

Our auction budget starts at $300, and then is reduced depending on the ESPN value of whomever we keep.

This means that, after keeping Braun, Utley, Kemp and Wright, I will have $184 left at the start of the auction.

I've never done an auction before, and I'm not sure how to properly prepare. I know a lot depends on who keeps what, but my thinking is I'll need a solid 1B, a solid SS, and one ace, and then I can fill in the remaining spots with inexpensive, high-upside guys.

With 22 remaining roster spots to fill, including 9 pitchers, can anyone offer advice on how I should value those four spots I named. In other words, what kind of spending limit should I put on each of those four crucial areas. Is one more important than the others?
