Can anyone help me with how this team looks and where I need help? Steals may be an issue, but I think I am pretty competitive everywhere else.
I had to take Zimmerman and Rollins with the 24th and 25th picks because of the drop off of talent at 3b and SS by the time I picked again.
My next picks at 48 and 49 were Aaron Hill and Nelson Cruz. Hill was the best 2b available. There was another huge dropoff at 2b after him, so I took him. I took Beckett and Hanson the next time around so I could have 2 good pitchers to anchor my pitching staff.
I planned on getting Quentin and CarGo later to round out my OF. Both of them should be close to the OFers that were going earlier in the draft.
12 team, H2H league, non keeper
C B. Molina 1b Pujols 2b A. Hill Ss J. Rollins 3b R. Zimmerman OF N. Cruz, C. Quentin, Carlos Gonzalez UTIL C. Davis, Garrett Jones, Sean Rodriguez
i think your team looks pretty dam good onlt short in the of but there will be guys out there that come on and u need closer help look for down linstrom or madson while lidge is out
o yea every team in a 12 team league has holes so dont panic make your moves threw free agents where u can find closers and outfielders threwout the year hope i helped
Madson would be a very good option as a closer as yes, Lidge is out for a short time, but, he is also very streaky and may not hold that position all year long. With the Phillies being a solid team, look for Madson to get quite a bit of saves, if and when Lidge is down yet again.
I agree with Madson being a good temporary option at closer. Your team has a ton of potential power. Speed is one area you could probably improve on, because there's not a whole lot there, but you can always find speed on the waiver wire during the season. Overall, good team.
This team looks pretty solid. Shouldn't have any trouble with power. As far as saves go, I see that you have Mike Adams. I'm a Padres fan, and although they list Adams as the #2 guy on the closer chart, it seems like Luke Gregerson got the call more frequently last year when Bell couldn't go. There are rumors that MN might be shopping for Bell to replace Joe Nathan, so picking the right one b/w Gregerson and Adams could turn out to be big. But that will require some more research. Good luck. If you get a moment, take a look at my team and let me know what you think (entitled "How's This Team?"). Thanks.
this is a great draft if everyone performs how they should. saves will be difficult but...we all know throughout the year there are 8th inning guys on some teams that for a variety of reasons (injury to closer, struggling closer, etc.) pick up 15-20 saves in a year. Keep any eye on setup guys who are behind a closer on the hot seat. You may lose 3-4 weeks of saves but finding a guy in july that can get 3 extra saves a week for you will put you in a good spot.
Your team looks pretty solid with the exception of OF and possibly saves. One name I've not seen mentioned is possibly Chris Perez in Cleveland with Wood missing time as well.
If you have only one U spot, I would drop Sean Rodriguez. Does Davis qualify at 1B/3B? If so you have 1B/3B/OF covered in case of injury. You have a solid team.
